Timothy Edwards is a litigator and a partner at Axley, where he focuses his practice on federal court litigation and employment law, representing both employers and employees. He also practices business law and represents professionals in licensing disputes. Mr. Edwards is a member of Axley’s Litigation, Labor & Employment and Construction & Transportation Practice Groups, and chairs the firm’s Electronic Discovery & Records Management Team. He is also an adjunct lecturer at the University of Wisconsin Law School, where he has taught Civil Procedure, Pre-Trial Advocacy, Evidence and Professional Responsibility.

Mr. Edwards began his law career as a criminal defense attorney representing indigent clients in a busy Arizona courthouse. This prepared him well for a career as a litigator – but left him convinced that effective client representation requires more than the ability to simply grind through dozens of cases each day.

Mr. Edwards’ interest in teaching led him to return to law school, where he earned two advanced degrees in law, including a Master of Laws (L.L.M.) and a Doctorate in Law (S.J.D.). His academic preparation and extensive practical experience allows him to approach legal problems from many angles. In weighing solutions and choosing the best one, Mr. Edwards keeps a sharp eye on efficiency. He understands that one of his clients’ biggest challenges is the cost of litigation, and he works hard to keep costs in check while assertively protecting each client’s best interests.

In addition to working for his own clients, Mr. Edwards lends his expertise to his colleagues at Axley. He believes that one of Axley’s core strengths is its broad range of practice areas and the level of experience among the attorneys. Prior to joining Axley, Mr. Edwards had his own law firm in downtown Madison.

A native of Ann Arbor, Michigan, Mr. Edwards originally came to Wisconsin to attend Wayland Academy. After moving around a bit (in addition to practicing law in Arizona, he once worked at a giant amusement park in Sandusky, Ohio, operating a water ride called the Nestea Plunge), Mr. Edwards and his family are delighted to live in Wisconsin.
